Throughout the Bowland Festival and Bowland Festival Arts weeks, artists and craftspeople across Bowland will be opening their studios and creating special exhibitions for the public.

 

The Lunesdale Studio Trail
Across the Lune Valley area.
(May 24th- 25th - 26th and 31st) and June 1st June 7th-8th 11-5pm
Individual artists may open additional days – see website for further details.


Fifteen artists will open their doors to the public who can see recent work, work-in-progress and chat with the artists. This year’s trail includes painters, felt, ceramic and jewellery artists, three-dimensional art, textiles and a video artist.

The studios are located in beautiful countryside and attractive villages in and around Bowland. A Lunesdale Studio Trail map will be available to guide you from studio to studio.


An Exhibition of Lunesdale Studio Trail artists will be held at the Dukes Theatre Lancaster from 21st May until 18th June.

New Terrains: Visitors to Green Close Studios Open Days will create a “new” map of Bowland during the Festival. They will have an opportunity to put themselves on the map by participating in the creation of a unique collaborative artwork – a new “map” of Bowland. This theme of a New Bowland Map will be further explored in a full day mixed media workshop looking at new ways of working creatively through a whole range of different media (June 15th).

The studios will be open Friday to Sunday during the Bowland Festival Arts weeks. An exciting range of free drop-in activities are programmed throughout the two weeks:

Sunday 1st June ‘Put Yourself on the Map”
Friday 6th June ‘ Time Out - drawing from the Earth’
Sunday 8th June ‘ Digital Discovery”

Plus opportunities to meet the artists, and see an exhibition the work by

Pete Flowers, Sue Flowers, Geoff Parr and Tom Urry.

Backridge Farm Open Studios
Twitter Lane, Bashell Eaves, Waddington, Clitheroe
1st-15th June 11-4pm daily

Nestled at the edge of Bowland is Backridge Farm, an idyllic home to a group of practising artists who are both creating and selling work on the site. For the first two weeks of June, the artists will be opening their studios to the Bowland Festival. The artists will be in their studios producing work and will be open to questions from visitors. Their work will be on display for your enjoyment and for sale at extremely reasonable prices. Work on show by Anna Ashworth, Katie Eveson, Joy Cockle, Rebecca Wilmer and Phil Garlington

While you are visiting Backridge Farm you may also wish to explore the rest of the site, which incorporates a collection of talented crafts people, designers and unique retail outlets selling a wide range of exclusive products.

Bentham
June 7th Open Day 10-4pm

Come and join in a day filled with creative fun at Bentham’s arts and wellbeing centre. Stalls, displays, refreshments and have-a go fun for all the family indoors and in our garden, just drop in. Kite-making workshop from 10am-1.15pm.

Contemporary kiln formed glass handmade by the artist karen
redmayne. Pieces comprising of landscapes, lightboxes, frames,
mirrors, jewellery and more.
karen also undertakes fused glass workshops.


Anita Burrows
7th & 8th June

My Studio will be open from 10-4pm on Saturday 7th June and for around an hour before the walk I am leading on Sunday 8th June.

 

 

 





Julie Miles
8th & 9th June

Julie Miles is opening her studio to the public and will be on hand to talk to visitors about her work. There will be a display of her contemporary ceramics work using porcelain and natural materials. A number of other studios will be open studios during weekend event at Higherford Mill, Barrowford.


Joe Hesketh
7th June

Joe Hesketh will be opening her studio to the public on Saturday 7th June 10-4pm.
